Built For Recreational Dancers

We’re a studio built purely for recreational dancers, with teachers who are nurturing, encouraging and positive, not strict for the sake of it.

Ten years on, the vision is still the same.

Our focus isn’t on being the best in the room. It’s on building confidence, developing skills and, most importantly, having fun. We believe every dancer deserves to feel proud of themselves, and that’s the vision we bring to every class.

What we do differently

We let kids be kids.

One of the ways Leaps N Beats stands apart is something we don’t do: we don’t hold an end-of-year concert.

We’ve seen a real rise in anxiety among children in recent years, and performance pressure can be a big part of that. So we made a deliberate choice to remove it. No months of extra rehearsals on top of class time. No added costume and ticket costs. No families spending hours sitting through a concert just to watch their child dance for three minutes. And no costumes or makeup that we feel aren’t quite right for young children.

Instead, each class holds its own end-of-year presentation during their regular class time. Family members are welcome to come along and watch, and every dancer receives a medal and certificate to celebrate their year of hard work.

Our focus stays exactly where we think it should be.

We know that dropping your child off at dance class is about more than the class itself. It’s trusting that they’re somewhere safe, encouraged and genuinely cared for. At our Yarraville studio, we have dancers who joined us at just two years old and are now ten, a whole childhood spent growing, learning and dancing within these walls.

Meet Our Founder

Meet Paris.

Paris has been immersed in the world of dance since she took her first steps. From competitions and exams to performances on stage, dance has been part of her life for as long as she can remember. She went on to complete seven years of intensive professional dance training, including programs with the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet and Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance.

But it wasn’t just the dancing that captured her. It was teaching it. Early in her career, Paris discovered a deep love for working with children, and a clear vision began to take shape: a studio where technical skill mattered, but confidence mattered just as much. A place where dance could be transformative, not just for a child’s ability, but for how they saw themselves.

With 17 years of teaching experience across Melbourne’s dance studios and primary schools, that vision became Leaps N Beats Dance, and this year marks its 10th anniversary.

Paris still finds real joy in helping children of all ages fall in love with dance, with technique and confidence developing hand in hand. What she loves most, though, is getting to know the families who walk through the studio doors and watching each child grow in ability and confidence, week by week.
